Stanley Nwabali returns to Chippa United ahead of new season

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has completed a return to South African Premier Division side Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 30-year-old rejoins the Chilli Boys after spending the last seven months without competitive football, a period that affected both his club career and his place in Nigeria's senior national team.

Chippa United confirmed Nwabali's return on Sunday through its official social media platforms, expressing excitement over his comeback.

“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys,” the club wrote.

In a follow-up statement, the club added: “After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”

Nwabali first joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and became a fan favourite after his impressive performances for Nigeria during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.

His return offers the experienced goalkeeper an opportunity to revive his career and compete for a place in the Super Eagles squad once again ahead of upcoming international competitions.
